Sustainability

We try to produce as sustainably as possible to keep our footprint small. Therefore, our mailbox boxes are made of grass paper and tomato leaf pulp is the basic component of the seed bags. The printing is either made of paper that is 30-70% recycled paper or paper that comes from agricultural waste. In addition, you have the option to plant a tree when you place an order through Regreener.

Tool maintenance

The tools we sell are in most cases made of carbon steel. This means that over time, with regular use, these items will inevitably rust or stain and gradually become blunt. Therefore, it is essential to take good care of your tools.

Proper use

  • Japanese steel is hard and sharp, and can be more fragile than what you may be used to from other materials. The steel can be damaged if you don't use it properly.
  • Do not cut iron wire, metal, stone, plastic, hardwood or other hard material with the pruning shears. Even bamboo can cause damage.
  • Do not rotate the pruning shears during use, or apply unnatural pressure.
  • Cut diagonally at a diagonal angle, not straight. This way you cut with the direction of the fibers.
  • Note the maximum capacity in diameter indicated with the products and do not exceed it.
  • Use the blades deeper toward the junction for heavier work, not the tips.

Cleaning

  • Remove dirt from plants, incipient rust and other dirt with water.
  • Dry off, rub with Camellia oil and store dry.

Grinding

  • New tools do not need sharpening the first period, but after a while you will notice that they become less sharp. Use a sharpening stone for best results. Always soak it in water for an hour first, never use it dry. Sharpen with the direction of the cutting blades.
  • Sharpen pruning shears you use regularly every few weeks.
  • Preferably sharpen regular scissors after each use, the difference is striking. It even keeps your picked flowers fresher because the "cut" is sharper and they absorb water better.

A great little sanding block for removing resin, rust and other dirt on your pruning or picking shears and blades. After cleaning, add a few drops of Camellia oil for top results. Crean mate has a fairly rough texture and can scratch smooth surfaces if you don't use it correctly. Always wet before using crean mate.
