Sustainability

We try to produce as sustainably as possible to keep our footprint small. Therefore, our letterbox boxes are made of grass paper and tomato leaf pulp is the basic component of the seed bags. The printing is either made of paper that is 30-70% recycled paper or paper that comes from agricultural waste. In addition, you have the option to plant a tree when you place an order through Regreener.

Gifting

Is (part of) your order a gift for someone? Mention it in the comments and we will wrap it nicely for you.

How fun are these rainbow-colored carrots? People used to grow roots of all colors, until the Oranges won the war from the Spanish in the seventeenth century and Dutch traders only sold orange roots. These rainbow carrots are nice and cheerful and a party on your plate!

Direct sowing
Carrots should preferably be sown on a raised "back," a piece of soil made into a hump. If the soil is well loose and airy, roots grow nice and straight and long. Sow a row and after germination thin out to a distance of about 5 cm. For thicker roots, you can leave more space between them. Leave about 20 cm space between the rows. Direct sowing can be done between March and July. For a longer harvest, sow several times. Use insect netting to cover the plants to protect them from the carrot fly.

About vegetable seeds

All vegetable seeds are annuals, meaning you have to re-sow them every year, except for hardy herbs. Rosemary, thyme, sage and fennel generally survive the winter just fine.

How many hours of sunshine?

Vegetables generally like to grow in full sun. A minimum of 6 hours of sun in summer is a good guide. For annual flowers this is more, there we stick to a minimum of 8 hours of sun per day.

What soil?

Vegetables can basically be grown on any type of soil, but it varies for each type of vegetable how nutritious that soil needs to be. You can find more information about this in the description.

Seediguide

Never seeded before? We'll get you started with a Sowing Guide explaining the basics and supplies.

Storing seeds

On the package of your seeds you will find the shelf life. You can use them until the date you see on it. An opened package is best stored in an airtight box in a cool and dark place, such as a closet in the hallway. Not sure if the germination is still good? Then it's best to buy a new pack. We deliberately choose small amounts of seeds in the packs so you don't have to waste seeds. Do you have any questions about this? Call 033 - 202 43 38 or email to [email protected], and we will help you further.
