Sustainability

We try to produce as sustainably as possible to keep our footprint small. Therefore, our letterbox boxes are made of grass paper and tomato leaf pulp is the basic component of the seed bags. The printing is either made of paper that is 30-70% recycled paper or paper that comes from agricultural waste. In addition, you have the option to plant a tree when you place an order through Regreener.

Gifting

Is (part of) your order a gift for someone? Mention it in the comments and we will wrap it nicely for you.

Organic

This is an organic product from certified organic producers. Among other things, this means that they do not work with pesticides. The control regarding organic products is carried out by the SKAL.

In English, the eggplant is called "eggplant": the beginning fruits with their somewhat elongated round shape look exactly like eggs. Flowering starts with a cute light purple flower and grows into a firm eggplant with a beautiful shiny skin. 'Black Beauty' is a very strong variety that produces a lot of fruit. Eggplant does best in a nice warm environment, so place it in the hottest spot in the garden, preferably in the greenhouse.

Pre-seeding March - April

Direct seeding -
Harvest
June - September

Indoor pre-seeding
Starting in March, pre-sow indoors in well-humid seedling soil. Cover with a layer of soil or vermiculite and place in a warm place of 20 - 25 degrees. Preferably do this indoors for a constant temperature. Repot to P9 pots when seedlings are larger than 10 cm. Eggplant grows preferably in a greenhouse or conservatory. From mid-May you can harden off the seedlings and place them in the greenhouse. Support with a stick and manually dust the flowers if necessary for more fruit. Harvest when the fruit is mature and the skin shines nicely. Store outside the refrigerator in a dry, dark place.

About vegetable seeds

All vegetable seeds are annuals, meaning you have to re-sow them every year, except for hardy herbs. Rosemary, thyme, sage and fennel generally survive the winter just fine.

How many hours of sunshine?

Vegetables generally like to grow in full sun. A minimum of 6 hours of sun in summer is a good guide. For annual flowers this is more, there we stick to a minimum of 8 hours of sun per day.

What soil?

Vegetables can basically be grown on any type of soil, but it varies for each type of vegetable how nutritious that soil needs to be. You can find more information about this in the description.

Seediguide

Never seeded before? We'll get you started with a Sowing Guide explaining the basics and supplies.

Storing seeds

On the package of your seeds you will find the shelf life. You can use them until the date you see on it. An opened package is best stored in an airtight box in a cool and dark place, such as a closet in the hallway. Not sure if the germination is still good? Then it's best to buy a new pack. We deliberately choose small amounts of seeds in the packs so you don't have to waste seeds. Do you have any questions about this? Call 033 - 202 43 38 or email to [email protected], and we will help you further.
