Sustainability

We try to produce as sustainably as possible to keep our footprint small. Therefore, our letterbox boxes are made of grass paper and tomato leaf pulp is the basic component of the seed bags. The printing is either made of paper that is 30-70% recycled paper or paper that comes from agricultural waste. In addition, you have the option to plant a tree when you place an order through Regreener.

Gifting

Is (part of) your order a gift for someone? Mention it in the comments and we will wrap it nicely for you.

Say summer, you say tomatoes. What could be more delicious than walking into the garden every day to pick a handful of tomatoes for dinner? Giant tomato 'Coeur de Boeuf', oxheart in Dutch, is a special variety. It owes its somewhat unsavory name to its unique shape and size. One tomato can weigh up to 500 grams! She ripens from the inside out, so it is best to harvest her when she still looks somewhat green. Truly a beautiful tomato, both in your garden and on your plate.

Pre-sowing March - May

Direct sowing
Harvest
July - August

Sow indoors
From mid-March sow indoors in well-humid soil in medium-sized seed trays. Sow 1 seed per tray and cover with a little soil or vermiculite. Place in a warm place of about 20 degrees, possibly with a hood on top. After germination, remove the cover. Repot to P9 pots as soon as seedlings have more than 2 sets of leaves. From mid-May you can harden off the seedlings and transplant with a distance of 80 cm. This is a climber, make sure you have good support. Remove axillary shoots (thieves) and give tomato food once every two weeks. Harvest regularly and pollinate flowers manually if necessary for more fruit. Only suitable for greenhouse cultivation. Because ripening takes longer, you have little success outside the greenhouse because of phytophtora. Store harvest outside the refrigerator in a dark place.

About vegetable seeds

All vegetable seeds are annuals, meaning you have to re-sow them every year, except for hardy herbs. Rosemary, thyme, sage and fennel generally survive the winter just fine.

How many hours of sunshine?

Vegetables generally like to grow in full sun. A minimum of 6 hours of sun in summer is a good guide. For annual flowers this is more, there we stick to a minimum of 8 hours of sun per day.

What soil?

Vegetables can basically be grown on any type of soil, but it varies for each type of vegetable how nutritious that soil needs to be. You can find more information about this in the description.

Seediguide

Never seeded before? We'll get you started with a Sowing Guide explaining the basics and supplies.

Storing seeds

On the package of your seeds you will find the shelf life. You can use them until the date you see on it. An opened package is best stored in an airtight box in a cool and dark place, such as a closet in the hallway. Not sure if the germination is still good? Then it's best to buy a new pack. We deliberately choose small amounts of seeds in the packs so you don't have to waste seeds. Do you have any questions about this? Call 033 - 202 43 38 or email to [email protected], and we will help you further.
