Sustainability

We try to produce as sustainably as possible to keep our footprint small. Therefore, our letterbox boxes are made of grass paper and tomato leaf pulp is the basic component of the seed bags. The printing is either made of paper that is 30-70% recycled paper or paper that comes from agricultural waste. In addition, you have the option to plant a tree when you place an order through Regreener.

Gifting

Is (part of) your order a gift for someone? Mention it in the comments and we will wrap it nicely for you.

Organic

This is an organic product from certified organic producers. Among other things, this means that they do not work with pesticides. The control regarding organic products is carried out by the SKAL.

Chinese asters are back with a vengeance. Where previously they were seen as bitchy, you now have varieties that are midway between dahlias and zinnias. This smaller flower in the Matsumoto series has a soft rose color and is organically grown.

Pre-seeding February - April

Direct sowing April - May
Flowering time June - October

Indoor pre-seeding
Sow in a seed tray with moist seedling soil mixed with 1/3rd part vermiculite. Cover seeds with a thin layer of soil or vermiculite. Set in a cool place between 16 - 18 degrees until seeds germinate. Transplant seedlings to P9 pots as soon as they are large enough. Harden off and transplant from mid-May with 30 cm spacing.

Direct seeding
Sow directly into the ground from April in a well-loosened seedbed. Sow in rows 30 cm apart. Thin out if necessary after germination. Chinese asters like to grow in rich soil in full sun. Do not allow to dry out. Sensitive to mildew. Remove excess leaves to allow plants to dry out better. Note: Do not put asters in the same spot every year to avoid potato blight.

About vegetable seeds

All vegetable seeds are annuals, meaning you have to re-sow them every year, except for hardy herbs. Rosemary, thyme, sage and fennel generally survive the winter just fine.

How many hours of sunshine?

Vegetables generally like to grow in full sun. A minimum of 6 hours of sun in summer is a good guide. For annual flowers this is more, there we stick to a minimum of 8 hours of sun per day.

What soil?

Vegetables can basically be grown on any type of soil, but it varies for each type of vegetable how nutritious that soil needs to be. You can find more information about this in the description.

Seediguide

Never seeded before? We'll get you started with a Sowing Guide explaining the basics and supplies.

Storing seeds

On the package of your seeds you will find the shelf life. You can use them until the date you see on it. An opened package is best stored in an airtight box in a cool and dark place, such as a closet in the hallway. Not sure if the germination is still good? Then it's best to buy a new pack. We deliberately choose small amounts of seeds in the packs so you don't have to waste seeds. Do you have any questions about this? Call 033 - 202 43 38 or email to [email protected], and we will help you further.
