Sustainability

We try to produce as sustainably as possible to keep our footprint small. Therefore, our letterbox boxes are made of grass paper and tomato leaf pulp is the basic component of the seed bags. The printing is either made of paper that is 30-70% recycled paper or paper that comes from agricultural waste. In addition, you have the option to plant a tree when you place an order through Regreener.

Gifting

Is (part of) your order a gift for someone? Mention it in the comments and we will wrap it nicely for you.

No vegetable as versatile as the autumn squash. 'Musquee de Provence' is a particularly beautiful pumpkin, somewhat flatter in shape and deeply ribbed on the sides. They also grow nicely large, up to half a meter. The taste is deliciously sweet with a hint of nutmeg. Also very pretty as an autumn decoration, of course!

Pre-seeding April - May

Direct seeding June
Harvest September - October

Indoor pre-seeding
Don't start pre-sowing too early, the plants grow quickly. Sow indoors in P9 pots. Sow 1 or 2 seeds per pot and press the seeds about 2 cm into the soil. Place in a warm place of about 20 degrees, possibly with a cover on top. After germination, remove the cover. Do not give too much water during germination. From mid-May you can harden off and transplant the seedlings with a distance of 100 cm. Make sure the soil is very fertile: pumpkins prefer to grow on the dung heap!

Direct sowing
Sow in the garden starting in June. Beware of mice: they will eat the seeds. Put a flower pot on top of the spot where you sowed. Keep an eye on when the seed has germinated and remove the pot again.

About vegetable seeds

All vegetable seeds are annuals, meaning you have to re-sow them every year, except for hardy herbs. Rosemary, thyme, sage and fennel generally survive the winter just fine.

How many hours of sunshine?

Vegetables generally like to grow in full sun. A minimum of 6 hours of sun in summer is a good guide. For annual flowers this is more, there we stick to a minimum of 8 hours of sun per day.

What soil?

Vegetables can basically be grown on any type of soil, but it varies for each type of vegetable how nutritious that soil needs to be. You can find more information about this in the description.

Seediguide

Never seeded before? We'll get you started with a Sowing Guide explaining the basics and supplies.

Storing seeds

On the package of your seeds you will find the shelf life. You can use them until the date you see on it. An opened package is best stored in an airtight box in a cool and dark place, such as a closet in the hallway. Not sure if the germination is still good? Then it's best to buy a new pack. We deliberately choose small amounts of seeds in the packs so you don't have to waste seeds. Do you have any questions about this?
