Green happiness awaits

MAY & JUNE is a company with one mission: to get you into the garden. Because gardening makes you happier.

How it began

'We don't just say it: green happiness awaits. It's something I've lived through, in a dark period from 2017 to 2019. There are a lot of people who have experienced that gardening can drag you right through difficulties. The garden can be healing. I know that too. Creating a garden helped clear my head and restored my enthusiasm for life.

As the daughter of a garden designer, I grew up among greenery. I have been an entrepreneur for over 15 years now and have owned several businesses, but in 2020 I went back to my roots: gardens. What started as a small studio by myself as an ecological garden designer (which means as much as designing with nature as the priority) grew in a few years into what MAY & JUNE is today.

Since I am primarily an entrepreneur anyway (and as an entrepreneur you don't want to be limited to doing only one thing) we no longer design gardens, we focus on supporting people to do it themselves. We want to show the masses that gardening can improve your life in every possible way.

And then we come back to that mission: a garden full of life will result in happier people. A lush garden not only gives you an improved quality of life, it also supports local nature. In this way, people become happier in every way.'

Founder of MAY & JUNE

No difficult theory, no tricky techniques - just simply trying out and having fun in the garden.

We help you in every possible way to build a garden properly and sustainably. We sell live plants, bulbs, seeds and dahlias, as well as gardening tools and books.

What we go for

We believe with all our hearts that your garden is your best chance to live more sustainably and have an impact on the environment, but it also simply makes you happy. So it's good for you in more ways than one, directly and indirectly.

In everything we show at MAY & JUNE , we want to keep it low key above all else. No difficult theory, no tricky techniques - just simply try it out and have fun in the garden.

With the products we offer you, we especially want to get you into the garden. It is our deepest wish that you realize how incredibly fun and important it is to turn your own (small) garden into a green haven. And we are here to help you with that every day.

We do that through our professional border packages with perennials (only available in the Netherlands and Belgium), our seeds, bulbs and dahlia collection, through MAY & JUNE magazine that is published independently four times a year, and of course through our books and content about gardening on Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube and the blog.

From 2020 to now

What began in 2020 as a design studio behind a desk in the bedroom is now a full-fledged brand as e-commerce and publishing.

Plant a seed for those in need

We live in a country where we have the time and resources to enjoy hobbies like gardening. Our vision is genuine and proven: it makes us happier. At the same time, there are still people who do not even have the freedom to do anything other than what they are told to do. Modern slavery is an issue that is often forgotten. It involves people who are forced into often lifelong labor due to problems such as debt.

International Justice Mission (IJM) is an organization that helps the local government free these people, put the criminals holding them behind bars and strengthen the justice system so that it cannot happen again. In addition, IJM provides direct care to the victims and creates an aftercare plan to help them build a new life in freedom.

We will donate 10% of our profits to IJM every year starting in 2025. This way, we not only express our mission here, but also give people in other parts of the world the chance to become happy again. With your purchase, you support people in need.
