We try to produce as sustainably as possible to keep our footprint small. Therefore, our letterbox boxes are made of grass paper and tomato leaf pulp is the basic component of the seed bags. Native plants are native to our country. Plants from here can only be native if they have not been "played with," i.e., they must not have been grown on. Native planting is important for our biodiversity. Insects depend on them.
Marigold is one of those species you find everywhere, especially in vegetable gardens. You can eat them and make oil or salve from them, but on the vase is also possible, of course. Cut away the dead flowers and it will reward you with an even more exuberant bloom.

Indoor pre-sowing
Pre-sow from mid-March to April. Cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil. Place in a room at about 18 - 23 degrees in a bright spot but away from direct sunlight. Place immediately cooler upon germination. Keep soil moist. Repot at 2 sets of true leaves and set in a cool place. Harden off outside and transplant after the last night frost with 30 cm spacing. Pre-sowing in autumn is also possible, put seedlings in a cold greenhouse to overwinter and plant the following spring.
Direct sowing
Sow directly into the soil starting in April. Cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil. Do not do this during heavy rain or on hot days to prevent the seed from washing away or drying out. Keep the soil moist. After germination, thin out to a few seedlings 30 cm apart. For a longer harvest, you can also sow every 3 to 4 weeks in summer.

All vegetable seeds are annuals, meaning you have to re-sow them every year, except for hardy herbs. Rosemary, thyme, sage and fennel generally survive the winter just fine.

Vegetables generally like to grow in full sun. A minimum of 6 hours of sun in summer is a good guide. For annual flowers this is more, there we stick to a minimum of 8 hours of sun per day.

Storing seeds
Storing seeds
On the package of your seeds you will find the shelf life. You can use them until the date you see on it. An opened package is best stored in an airtight box in a cool and dark place, such as a closet in the hallway. Not sure if the germination is still good? Then it's best to buy a new pack.
